ISMF goes to the Olympics

The International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF), ski mountaineering’s internationally recognized governing body, is delighted to communicate the positive decision taken by the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) held in Belek (Turkey) on 10th April by granting provisional recognition to the ISMF.

Armando Mariotta, the ISMF President commented: "I’m extremely happy with the IOC decision and proud of the ISMF. Ski mountaineering is a spectacular sport with a low environmental impact that we hope will eventually be fully part of the Olympic family. We look forward to collaborating with the IOC, learning from their expertise and taking our sport into a new growth period. I would like to thank the IOC Sports Department for its sustained support throughout the recognition process and all the ISMF members and collaborators for the huge effort made both before and during my presidency. I promise that the ISMF is fully committed to the ideals set out in the Olympic Charter".
